Glenann PS had a very special visitor this morning. Susie Millar, author of The Two Pennies, visited Primary 5 and 6 to tell the children all about her great-grandfather, Thomas Millar, a deck engineer on board the Titanic. Susie shared her vast knowledge of the famous liner and even brought with her some tools which were used in the building of the Titanic. The children were very excited to see the two 1912 pennies which were given to her grandfather by Thomas with the instruction not to spend them until he returned. Sadly, Thomas was lost at sea. The children participated in a very interesting debate with Susie about who was to blame for the sinking of the Titanic and used the knowledge they had gained throughout their topic to support their opinions and arguments.
